After weeks of record-breaking high temperatures in Belgrade – You know, the kind that makes you hide in your air-conditioned apartment until about 8pm, I thought it was time to get out of town into cooler temperatures

It was the year 2015. A dark period of time where I was forced to undergo significant personal change. I had been outed to my entire community, lost my job, and moved to a new state with my significant other. Every aspect of my belief system was challenged, and I felt like a baby learning

When I was preparing to move to Serbia, I knew I wanted to approach it with the mindset of complete and total openness. I wanted to feel all of it – the highs and the lows and everything in between. I suppose it was my way of managing the uncertainty of such a major life
